why does he want to kill me in an alley is a work I made while studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire for Music and Dance under the direction of Martin Hargreaves and Tony Thatcher. The work was made originally as poem regarding a fucked up collaborative experience I had a year prior with a White male artist. In addition to immense emotional damage (consensual), I even got a concussion because he slammed me against a wall and everything came out. I then translated the poem into a slow-moving performance that was performed at Laban's Bonnie Bird Theatre and won the Simone Michelle Award for Outstanding Choreography in 2013
It has never been performed again.
Performed by Alexnadra Maricich, Nadine Maeder, and myself
Lighting by Azusa Ono
Costuming by Lucy M Reeves and Nina Bertolone
